Description

Cream sits between white and beige, reading softer than either. Beside wool or knit it looks warmer than a clean white. Its length is 35 cm. That is tooth length; the tape above it disappears into your seam allowance.

3 mm of coil width — narrow enough for fine wovens, strong enough for the slider to grip securely. For cushion covers, make the opening at least half the cushion width — otherwise the insert only goes in with a struggle and the corners stay empty as you fill it.

  • Bags with a zipped compartment, because it stays closed at the bottom.
  • Wash bags, because this fastener sews in flat.

Sewing tips

  • Die angegebene Länge ist die Zahnlänge, nicht die Bandlänge. Für den Schlitz im Schnittmuster zählt die Zahnlänge.
  • Reißverschlussfuß verwenden und die Naht knappkantig neben den Zähnen führen.
  • Zu lange Verschlüsse lassen sich kürzen: oben abschneiden, neuen Anschlag mit Handstichen setzen und das Band in die Nahtzugabe einschlagen.
  • In Taschen den Verschluss vor dem Zusammennähen der Seitennähte einsetzen, solange die Teile noch flach liegen.
  • Bei dünnen Stoffen ein Stück Vlieseline unterlegen, damit die Kante nicht ausreißt.
  • Metallausführungen nicht bügeln; die Spitzenvariante nur von links und mit Tuch.
  • Zum Waschen schließen. Offene Zähne verhaken sich in Maschenware und ziehen Fäden.

How do I set it into a bag?

Before closing the side seams, while the pieces still lie flat. Your machine then reaches everywhere and the seam runs straight instead of fighting a curve.

How do I get the seam close to the teeth?

With a zip foot, a slow pace and a tacked edge. Press the allowance beforehand and it lies flat while you sew, so the seam keeps an even distance.

How do I care for the finished piece?

Close the fastener before every wash. The tape then will not distort and the teeth cannot catch in other laundry. Never press directly over the slider.

Do I need two sliders?

Closed-end fasteners carry one, and that suffices — two sliders only make sense on long, separating fasteners, such as coats you want to open from the bottom.
