Description

Black works on nearly any fabric without long comparison. This fastener disappears on dark cloth and draws a deliberate line on pale cloth. Its length is 10 cm. That is tooth length; the tape above it disappears into your seam allowance.

These teeth are brass and keep their warm golden tone. At 4 mm they stay fine enough for blouses and light jackets. The tape ends run into your seam allowance. Fold them slightly outwards at an angle, so they add no bulk at the corner and the slider runs right to the top.

What Closed-End Zip 10 cm Black is suitable for

  • Bags with a zipped compartment, because it stays closed at the bottom.
  • Rucksacks, because a fixed stop takes strain.
  • Garment bags, because the opening matches the length exactly.

Sewing tips

  • Die angegebene Länge ist die Zahnlänge, nicht die Bandlänge. Für den Schlitz im Schnittmuster zählt die Zahnlänge.
  • Reißverschlussfuß verwenden und die Naht knappkantig neben den Zähnen führen.
  • Zu lange Verschlüsse lassen sich kürzen: oben abschneiden, neuen Anschlag mit Handstichen setzen und das Band in die Nahtzugabe einschlagen.
  • In Taschen den Verschluss vor dem Zusammennähen der Seitennähte einsetzen, solange die Teile noch flach liegen.
  • Bei dünnen Stoffen ein Stück Vlieseline unterlegen, damit die Kante nicht ausreißt.
  • Metallausführungen nicht bügeln; die Spitzenvariante nur von links und mit Tuch.
  • Zum Waschen schließen. Offene Zähne verhaken sich in Maschenware und ziehen Fäden.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a cushion opening be?

At least half the cushion width, ideally a little more. Otherwise the insert only goes in with a struggle and the corners stay unfilled.

How do I get the seam close to the teeth?

With a zip foot, a slow pace and a tacked edge. Press the allowance beforehand and it lies flat while you sew, so the seam keeps an even distance.

How does metal differ from coil?

Metal teeth sit separately on the tape; a coil runs continuously. Metal reads stronger and more visible, a coil stays lighter and more flexible — on thin fabrics the calmer choice.

Do I need two sliders?

Closed-end fasteners carry one, and that suffices — two sliders only make sense on long, separating fasteners, such as coats you want to open from the bottom.
