Separating Zip 40 cm White
Item no. 10849
€2.40per piece
Unit price €6.00 / m · incl. VAT, plus shipping
A 40 cm separating zip in white. Version Spirale, width 5 mm, available singly. The stated length is tooth length without the tape. Measure on your finished pattern piece.
A clear white with no cream cast. On white or pale fabrics it stays discreet; on dark ones it turns into a design element. It measures 40 cm. Too long, and you shorten it from the top, setting a new stop there.
At 5 mm the coil is strong enough for sweat jackets and bags, yet still light enough not to drag at your fabric. Open the fastener before every crossing seam and push the slider out of the way. If your needle hits the slider or metal teeth it breaks — the commonest cause of a broken needle.
What Separating Zip 40 cm White is suitable for
Coats, because this length reaches the hem.
Covers meant to come off entirely, because both halves separate.
Rain jackets, because a separating fastener frees the whole front.
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
How do I thread it back together?
Slider all the way down, guide the pin straight into the box and push it in to the stop. Only then pull up. Entered at an angle, the pin jams and the slider jumps off again.
How exactly must the colour match?
On a jacket the fastener lies open, so close inspection pays off here. If unsure, take the next darker shade — or go for deliberate contrast.
Which needle do I need?
A universal needle in a suitable size; across several layers a denim needle. Never sew over the teeth themselves — a needle breaks or bends there.
What is the box at the bottom for?
That box takes the pin and holds both halves together while the fastener is closed. It is the part that makes a separating jacket possible at all.
