3 mm of coil width — narrow enough for fine wovens, strong enough for the slider to grip securely. Close the fastener before every wash, so the tape will not distort and the teeth cannot catch in other laundry. Never press directly over the slider.

Frequently asked questions
Which presser foot do I need?
A zip foot. It runs beside the teeth rather than over them, so your seam comes close enough without the foot riding up and the stitching wandering.
Does it work on jersey?
Yes, if you stabilise the edge. A strip of interfacing or a narrow stay tape in the seam allowance stops that edge stretching as you sew and rippling later.
Centred or concealed?
Set centred, both lines of topstitching show evenly; concealed, only one remains visible. Trousers usually take concealed, bags and cushions the centred version.
What do I do with the tape ends?
They run into the seam allowance and are caught there. Fold them slightly outwards at an angle, so they add no bulk at the corner and the slider reaches the top.
