Separating Zip 70 cm White
Item no. 14492
€3.00per piece
Unit price €4.29 / m · incl. VAT, plus shipping
In white at 70 cm: a separating zip, Spirale with 5 mm width, sold singly. The stated length is tooth length without the tape. Measure on your finished pattern piece.
A clear white with no cream cast. On white or pale fabrics it stays discreet; on dark ones it turns into a design element. It measures 70 cm. Too long, and you shorten it from the top, setting a new stop there.
At 5 mm the coil is strong enough for sweat jackets and bags, yet still light enough not to drag at your fabric. If the fastener should run into a hood, measure to the hood's edge rather than only to the neckline. Otherwise you end up short by exactly the centimetres you need most.
What Separating Zip 70 cm White is suitable for
Coats, because this length reaches the hem.
Waistcoats, because it lies smoothly into the front edge.
Softshell jackets, because the fastener carries real function there.
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a facing?
It makes the edge tidy and covers the tape. On stretch fabrics reinforce it with interfacing, or your front edge ripples along the tape.
What about crossing seams?
Open the fastener and push the slider out of the way before your needle arrives. Hit the slider or metal teeth and it breaks.
How do I stop the slider scratching a chin?
A small fabric tab over the upper end, or a piece of facing reaching past the slider. Either costs little effort and makes a jacket far more comfortable.
Does a separating zip suit bags?
Rarely. A closed-end one serves better there, or your bag opens at the bottom. Separating only pays when two parts really should come apart.
