Separating Zip 70 cm Dark Blue
Item no. 14495
€3.00per piece
Unit price €4.29 / m · incl. VAT, plus shipping
A separating zip in dark blue, 70 cm long, Spirale at 5 mm. Sold singly. The stated length is tooth length without the tape. Measure on your finished pattern piece.
A very dark blue that still reads as blue beside black. For denim and maritime pieces it is the established shade. 70 cm long — pick your length by the pattern piece rather than the paper pattern, since seam allowances and hem change the measurement.
5 mm of coil width — the standard size for outerwear. It takes strain without reading as heavy as a metal fastener. A small fabric tab over the upper end stops the slider scratching a chin. That costs two minutes and makes the finished jacket noticeably more comfortable.
What Separating Zip 70 cm Dark Blue is suitable for
Zipped hoodies, because the fastener can run up into the hood.
Cardigans, because a fastener replaces a button placket.
Between-season jackets, because they open quickly.
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
How do I stop the slider scratching a chin?
A small fabric tab over the upper end, or a piece of facing reaching past the slider. Either costs little effort and makes a jacket far more comfortable.
How exactly must the colour match?
On a jacket the fastener lies open, so close inspection pays off here. If unsure, take the next darker shade — or go for deliberate contrast.
Which needle do I need?
A universal needle in a suitable size; across several layers a denim needle. Never sew over the teeth themselves — a needle breaks or bends there.
Can I run it into a hood?
Yes, then the fastener runs up into the collar. Measure to the hood's edge in that case, not only to the neckline, or it comes out too short.
