Separating Zip 65 cm Dark Blue
Item no. 12485
€2.90per piece
Unit price €4.46 / m · incl. VAT, plus shipping
In dark blue at 65 cm: a separating zip, Krampe with 5 mm width, sold singly. The stated length is tooth length without the tape. Measure on your finished pattern piece.
A very dark blue that still reads as blue beside black. For denim and maritime pieces it is the established shade. Its length is 65 cm. That is tooth length; the tape above it disappears into your seam allowance.
Instead of a coil, separate 5 mm metal teeth sit along the tape here. That looks more robust and stands up to coarser fabrics. If the slider sticks later, fabric is usually caught between the teeth — ease it out rather than forcing it. A little candle wax on the teeth gets it running smoothly again.
What Separating Zip 65 cm Dark Blue is suitable for
Zipped hoodies, because the fastener can run up into the hood.
Covers meant to come off entirely, because both halves separate.
Between-season jackets, because they open quickly.
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
What about crossing seams?
Open the fastener and push the slider out of the way before your needle arrives. Hit the slider or metal teeth and it breaks.
How do I care for the finished jacket?
Close the fastener before every wash. The tape then will not distort and the teeth cannot catch in other laundry. Never press directly over the slider.
Metal or plastic — which is better?
Plastic is lighter, more flexible and quieter; metal reads stronger and takes more strain. Sweat jackets do fine with plastic; for coats and workwear, metal serves better.
Can I run it into a hood?
Yes, then the fastener runs up into the collar. Measure to the hood's edge in that case, not only to the neckline, or it comes out too short.
