Separating Zip 80 cm Dark Blue
Item no. 22902
€3.20per piece
Unit price €4.00 / m · incl. VAT, plus shipping
A separating zip in dark blue, 80 cm long, Krampe at 5 mm. Sold singly. The stated length is tooth length without the tape. Measure on your finished pattern piece.
A very dark blue that still reads as blue beside black. For denim and maritime pieces it is the established shade. Tooth length comes to 80 cm. Lay it against your piece before cutting and you will see at once whether the opening sits right.
Separate metal teeth of 5 mm — the version for anything meant to read strong. It is stiffer than a coil and follows curves less readily. A small fabric tab over the upper end stops the slider scratching a chin. That costs two minutes and makes the finished jacket noticeably more comfortable.
What Separating Zip 80 cm Dark Blue is suitable for
Coats, because this length reaches the hem.
Cardigans, because a fastener replaces a button placket.
Covers meant to come off entirely, because both halves separate.
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
How do I care for the finished jacket?
Close the fastener before every wash. The tape then will not distort and the teeth cannot catch in other laundry. Never press directly over the slider.
Metal or plastic — which is better?
Plastic is lighter, more flexible and quieter; metal reads stronger and takes more strain. Sweat jackets do fine with plastic; for coats and workwear, metal serves better.
What is the box at the bottom for?
That box takes the pin and holds both halves together while the fastener is closed. It is the part that makes a separating jacket possible at all.
How far should the topstitching sit?
About three to five millimetres beside the teeth. Too close and the slider brushes your seam; too far and the fabric throws a ripple over the tape.
