Separating Zip 45 cm Dark Blue
Item no. 15242
€2.50per piece
Unit price €5.56 / m · incl. VAT, plus shipping
A 45 cm separating zip in dark blue. Version Krampe, width 5 mm, available singly. The stated length is tooth length without the tape. Measure on your finished pattern piece.
A very dark blue that still reads as blue beside black. For denim and maritime pieces it is the established shade. It measures 45 cm. Too long, and you shorten it from the top, setting a new stop there.
These teeth are 5 mm wide and made of metal. They are visible, audible and belong on jackets allowed to look workshop-ready. It arrives singly, so you match your quantity exactly. On a jacket it lies openly in view, which makes a close look at the colour worthwhile.
What Separating Zip 45 cm Dark Blue is suitable for
Zipped hoodies, because the fastener can run up into the hood.
Softshell jackets, because the fastener carries real function there.
Rain jackets, because a separating fastener frees the whole front.
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a facing?
It makes the edge tidy and covers the tape. On stretch fabrics reinforce it with interfacing, or your front edge ripples along the tape.
Does it work on sweat and jersey?
Yes, with strips of interfacing in the edge. Without reinforcement, knitted cloth stretches as you sew and the fastener pulls your finished jacket crooked.
How do I care for the finished jacket?
Close the fastener before every wash. The tape then will not distort and the teeth cannot catch in other laundry. Never press directly over the slider.
How far should the topstitching sit?
About three to five millimetres beside the teeth. Too close and the slider brushes your seam; too far and the fabric throws a ripple over the tape.
