The darker version of burgundy: nearly black-red, with a brown note that makes it earthy. On dark wool it almost disappears. Its length is 45 cm. That is tooth length; the tape above it disappears into your seam allowance.
Instead of a coil, separate 5 mm metal teeth sit along the tape here. That looks more robust and stands up to coarser fabrics. Lay both halves level and tack them before the first seam. Let one side shift and your jacket stands apart at the hem; with the fastener closed, that shows at once.

Sewing tips
- Länge am fertigen Schnittteil messen, nicht am Schnittmuster — Nahtzugaben und Saum verändern die gebrauchte Länge.
- Reißverschlussfuß verwenden. Mit ihm kommt die Naht dicht an die Zähne, ohne dass der Fuß aufläuft.
- Vor dem Annähen beide Seiten gleich hoch ausrichten und heften. Verschiebt sich eine Hälfte, steht die Jacke am Saum auseinander.
- Bei dehnbaren Stoffen den Beleg mit Vlieseline verstärken, sonst wellt sich die Kante entlang des Bandes.
- Den Schieber vor der Quernaht öffnen und beiseiteschieben, damit die Nadel nicht auf Metall trifft.
- Metall- und Krampenverschlüsse nicht bügeln. Bei Spiralverschlüssen nur mit Tuch und niedriger Stufe.
- Beim Waschen den Verschluss schließen, dann verzieht sich das Band nicht und die Zähne haken sich nicht in anderer Wäsche fest.

Close the fastener before every wash. The tape then will not distort and the teeth cannot catch in other laundry. Never press directly over the slider.

On a jacket the fastener lies open, so close inspection pays off here. If unsure, take the next darker shade — or go for deliberate contrast.
Does a separating zip suit bags?
Rarely. A closed-end one serves better there, or your bag opens at the bottom. Separating only pays when two parts really should come apart.
