Separating Zip 50 cm Dark Blue
Item no. 10844
€2.60per piece
Unit price €5.20 / m · incl. VAT, plus shipping
In dark blue at 50 cm: a separating zip, Spirale with 5 mm width, sold singly. The stated length is tooth length without the tape. Measure on your finished pattern piece.
A very dark blue that still reads as blue beside black. For denim and maritime pieces it is the established shade. Tooth length comes to 50 cm. Lay it against your piece before cutting and you will see at once whether the opening sits right.
A plastic coil of 5 mm. It runs quietly, stays flexible and copes with frequent opening on a jacket. Too long, and you shorten it from the top: cut, fold the tape into your seam allowance, set a new stop with hand stitches. From the bottom you cannot — that is where the box and pin sit.
What Separating Zip 50 cm Dark Blue is suitable for
Waistcoats, because it lies smoothly into the front edge.
Softshell jackets, because the fastener carries real function there.
Covers meant to come off entirely, because both halves separate.
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
Can I shorten it?
From the top yes: cut it, fold the tape into your seam allowance and set a new stop with a few hand stitches. From the bottom you cannot — that is where the box and pin sit.
Do I need a facing?
It makes the edge tidy and covers the tape. On stretch fabrics reinforce it with interfacing, or your front edge ripples along the tape.
How do I stop the slider scratching a chin?
A small fabric tab over the upper end, or a piece of facing reaching past the slider. Either costs little effort and makes a jacket far more comfortable.
Metal or plastic — which is better?
Plastic is lighter, more flexible and quieter; metal reads stronger and takes more strain. Sweat jackets do fine with plastic; for coats and workwear, metal serves better.
