Separating Zip 55 cm Dark Blue
Item no. 14476
€2.70per piece
Unit price €4.91 / m · incl. VAT, plus shipping
A separating zip in dark blue, 55 cm long, Spirale at 5 mm. Sold singly. The stated length is tooth length without the tape. Measure on your finished pattern piece.
A very dark blue that still reads as blue beside black. For denim and maritime pieces it is the established shade. 55 cm — that length is measured without the tape running into the seam above and below.
That continuous coil runs 5 mm. Against metal teeth it reads less conspicuous and follows curves more softly. For bags a separating version is rarely right — the base would open otherwise. It only pays when two parts really should come apart.
What Separating Zip 55 cm Dark Blue is suitable for
Softshell jackets, because the fastener carries real function there.
Cardigans, because a fastener replaces a button placket.
Covers meant to come off entirely, because both halves separate.
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
How do I align both sides?
Lay both halves level and tack before sewing. Let one shift and your jacket stands apart at the hem — with the fastener closed, that shows at once.
Do I need a facing?
It makes the edge tidy and covers the tape. On stretch fabrics reinforce it with interfacing, or your front edge ripples along the tape.
How do I stop the slider scratching a chin?
A small fabric tab over the upper end, or a piece of facing reaching past the slider. Either costs little effort and makes a jacket far more comfortable.
How should I store fasteners?
Flat and closed, ideally sorted by length. Stored folded, the tape keeps that crease, and you see it later along the sewn-in edge.
