Separating Zip 35 cm Dark Blue
Item no. 12065
€2.30per piece
Unit price €6.57 / m · incl. VAT, plus shipping
A separating zip in dark blue, 35 cm long, Spirale at 5 mm. Sold singly. The stated length is tooth length without the tape. Measure on your finished pattern piece.
A very dark blue that still reads as blue beside black. For denim and maritime pieces it is the established shade. Its length is 35 cm. That is tooth length; the tape above it disappears into your seam allowance.
A 5 mm plastic coil — the version fitted to most jackets. Open the fastener before every crossing seam and push the slider out of the way. If your needle hits the slider or metal teeth it breaks — the commonest cause of a broken needle.
What Separating Zip 35 cm Dark Blue is suitable for
Sweat jackets, because the piece opens completely.
Coats, because this length reaches the hem.
Softshell jackets, because the fastener carries real function there.
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
Does it work on sweat and jersey?
Yes, with strips of interfacing in the edge. Without reinforcement, knitted cloth stretches as you sew and the fastener pulls your finished jacket crooked.
What about crossing seams?
Open the fastener and push the slider out of the way before your needle arrives. Hit the slider or metal teeth and it breaks.
Metal or plastic — which is better?
Plastic is lighter, more flexible and quieter; metal reads stronger and takes more strain. Sweat jackets do fine with plastic; for coats and workwear, metal serves better.
Which needle do I need?
A universal needle in a suitable size; across several layers a denim needle. Never sew over the teeth themselves — a needle breaks or bends there.
