Cyan blue is a cool blue with a clear turquoise cast. It glows more than a classic blue and catches an eye at once on a pale ground. At 35 cm of tooth length it fits wherever you need exactly that opening — measured on your finished pattern piece, not on paper.
A plastic coil of 5 mm. It runs quietly, stays flexible and copes with frequent opening on a jacket. On sweat and jersey, a strip of interfacing belongs in the front edge. Without reinforcement, knitted cloth stretches as you sew and the fastener pulls your finished jacket crooked.

Sewing tips
- Länge am fertigen Schnittteil messen, nicht am Schnittmuster — Nahtzugaben und Saum verändern die gebrauchte Länge.
- Reißverschlussfuß verwenden. Mit ihm kommt die Naht dicht an die Zähne, ohne dass der Fuß aufläuft.
- Vor dem Annähen beide Seiten gleich hoch ausrichten und heften. Verschiebt sich eine Hälfte, steht die Jacke am Saum auseinander.
- Bei dehnbaren Stoffen den Beleg mit Vlieseline verstärken, sonst wellt sich die Kante entlang des Bandes.
- Den Schieber vor der Quernaht öffnen und beiseiteschieben, damit die Nadel nicht auf Metall trifft.
- Metall- und Krampenverschlüsse nicht bügeln. Bei Spiralverschlüssen nur mit Tuch und niedriger Stufe.
- Beim Waschen den Verschluss schließen, dann verzieht sich das Band nicht und die Zähne haken sich nicht in anderer Wäsche fest.

Can I shorten it?
From the top yes: cut it, fold the tape into your seam allowance and set a new stop with a few hand stitches. From the bottom you cannot — that is where the box and pin sit.
Which presser foot should I use?
A zip foot. It runs beside the teeth rather than over them, so your seam comes close enough and keeps an even distance.
How far should the topstitching sit?
About three to five millimetres beside the teeth. Too close and the slider brushes your seam; too far and the fabric throws a ripple over the tape.
Can I run it into a hood?
Yes, then the fastener runs up into the collar. Measure to the hood's edge in that case, not only to the neckline, or it comes out too short.
