Description

A very dark blue that still reads as blue beside black. For denim and maritime pieces it is the established shade. It measures 75 cm. Too long, and you shorten it from the top, setting a new stop there.

This coil measures 5 mm, the usual width for jackets and bags: sturdy enough for frequent opening while staying flexible. To thread it, push the slider fully down and guide the pin straight into the box until it stops. Entered at an angle it jams and the slider jumps off again.

What Separating Zip 75 cm Dark Blue is suitable for

  • Zipped hoodies, because the fastener can run up into the hood.
  • Coats, because this length reaches the hem.
  • Rain jackets, because a separating fastener frees the whole front.

Sewing tips

  • Länge am fertigen Schnittteil messen, nicht am Schnittmuster — Nahtzugaben und Saum verändern die gebrauchte Länge.
  • Reißverschlussfuß verwenden. Mit ihm kommt die Naht dicht an die Zähne, ohne dass der Fuß aufläuft.
  • Vor dem Annähen beide Seiten gleich hoch ausrichten und heften. Verschiebt sich eine Hälfte, steht die Jacke am Saum auseinander.
  • Bei dehnbaren Stoffen den Beleg mit Vlieseline verstärken, sonst wellt sich die Kante entlang des Bandes.
  • Den Schieber vor der Quernaht öffnen und beiseiteschieben, damit die Nadel nicht auf Metall trifft.
  • Metall- und Krampenverschlüsse nicht bügeln. Bei Spiralverschlüssen nur mit Tuch und niedriger Stufe.
  • Beim Waschen den Verschluss schließen, dann verzieht sich das Band nicht und die Zähne haken sich nicht in anderer Wäsche fest.

How do I align both sides?

Lay both halves level and tack before sewing. Let one shift and your jacket stands apart at the hem — with the fastener closed, that shows at once.

The slider sticks — what helps?

Usually fabric is caught between the teeth; ease it out rather than forcing it. If it still runs stiff, a little candle wax on the teeth helps.

Which needle do I need?

A universal needle in a suitable size; across several layers a denim needle. Never sew over the teeth themselves — a needle breaks or bends there.

How should I store fasteners?

Flat and closed, ideally sorted by length. Stored folded, the tape keeps that crease, and you see it later along the sewn-in edge.
