Description
Sky blue stays pale and clear without tipping into baby blue. On white fabrics it reads especially fresh. It measures 75 cm. Too long, and you shorten it from the top, setting a new stop there.
A 5 mm plastic coil — the version fitted to most jackets. Too long, and you shorten it from the top: cut, fold the tape into your seam allowance, set a new stop with hand stitches. From the bottom you cannot — that is where the box and pin sit.
What Separating Zip 75 cm Sky Blue is suitable for
- Sweat jackets, because the piece opens completely.
- Waistcoats, because it lies smoothly into the front edge.
- Covers meant to come off entirely, because both halves separate.
Sewing tips
- Länge am fertigen Schnittteil messen, nicht am Schnittmuster — Nahtzugaben und Saum verändern die gebrauchte Länge.
- Reißverschlussfuß verwenden. Mit ihm kommt die Naht dicht an die Zähne, ohne dass der Fuß aufläuft.
- Vor dem Annähen beide Seiten gleich hoch ausrichten und heften. Verschiebt sich eine Hälfte, steht die Jacke am Saum auseinander.
- Bei dehnbaren Stoffen den Beleg mit Vlieseline verstärken, sonst wellt sich die Kante entlang des Bandes.
- Den Schieber vor der Quernaht öffnen und beiseiteschieben, damit die Nadel nicht auf Metall trifft.
- Metall- und Krampenverschlüsse nicht bügeln. Bei Spiralverschlüssen nur mit Tuch und niedriger Stufe.
- Beim Waschen den Verschluss schließen, dann verzieht sich das Band nicht und die Zähne haken sich nicht in anderer Wäsche fest.

What does separating mean?
At the bottom sits a box with a pin instead of a fixed stop. Pull that pin out and both halves part completely — your piece opens like a jacket and comes right off.
Does it work on sweat and jersey?
Yes, with strips of interfacing in the edge. Without reinforcement, knitted cloth stretches as you sew and the fastener pulls your finished jacket crooked.
How do I care for the finished jacket?
Close the fastener before every wash. The tape then will not distort and the teeth cannot catch in other laundry. Never press directly over the slider.
Metal or plastic — which is better?
Plastic is lighter, more flexible and quieter; metal reads stronger and takes more strain. Sweat jackets do fine with plastic; for coats and workwear, metal serves better.
