A coil fastener of 3 mm on a tape in 100 % polyester, for the seam that should look closed. Setting it into a cushion cover: into the side seam, before sewing the cover together, with an opening at least half the cushion width — otherwise the insert only goes back in with a struggle.

Sewing tips
- Ein spezieller Nähfuß für nahtverdeckte Reißverschlüsse ist praktisch Pflicht — er rollt die Spirale auf und führt die Naht direkt darunter.
- Der Verschluss wird eingenäht, BEVOR die Naht darunter geschlossen wird. Das ist umgekehrt zum normalen Reißverschluss.
- Vor dem Nähen die Spirale mit dem Bügeleisen auf niedriger Stufe flach ausrollen, dann kommt die Naht nah genug an die Zähne.
- Beide Seiten von oben nach unten nähen, nicht gegenläufig — sonst verzieht sich die eine Seite gegen die andere.
- Am unteren Ende so weit nähen, wie der Fuß kommt, dann den Rest der Naht mit normalem Fuß schließen und die letzten Zentimeter von Hand verriegeln.
- Bei dehnbaren Stoffen ein schmales Formband oder Vlieseline in die Nahtzugabe legen, damit die Kante gerade bleibt.
- Zum Waschen schließen und nicht direkt über den Schieber bügeln.

Which direction do I sew from?
Both sides from top to bottom. Sew them against each other and one half travels against the other, leaving your opening crooked — on dresses that shows at once.
How do I finish the lower end?
Sew as far as the foot will go, switch to an ordinary zip foot and close the rest of the seam. Backstitch those last centimetres at the join by hand, so nothing gapes.
Will it show afterwards?
Only the slider. Those teeth lie entirely inside the seam, leaving a closed seam line outside — which is exactly why invisible zips are first choice on dresses and skirts.
What is it made of?
Its tape is 100 % polyester and the coil is plastic too. That makes it lighter and more flexible than a metal fastener — exactly what an invisible seam needs.
