Description
A rich, dark brown like plain chocolate. With corduroy, linen and anything in natural tones it suits better than black. It measures 30 cm. Too long, and you shorten it from the top, setting a new stop there.
That continuous coil runs 5 mm. Against metal teeth it reads less conspicuous and follows curves more softly. Sold singly. Measure the front edge on your finished pattern piece, hem to neckline, and deduct seam allowances — on paper that measurement rarely holds.

- Waistcoats, because it lies smoothly into the front edge.
- Rain jackets, because a separating fastener frees the whole front.
Sewing tips
- Länge am fertigen Schnittteil messen, nicht am Schnittmuster — Nahtzugaben und Saum verändern die gebrauchte Länge.
- Reißverschlussfuß verwenden. Mit ihm kommt die Naht dicht an die Zähne, ohne dass der Fuß aufläuft.
- Vor dem Annähen beide Seiten gleich hoch ausrichten und heften. Verschiebt sich eine Hälfte, steht die Jacke am Saum auseinander.
- Bei dehnbaren Stoffen den Beleg mit Vlieseline verstärken, sonst wellt sich die Kante entlang des Bandes.
- Den Schieber vor der Quernaht öffnen und beiseiteschieben, damit die Nadel nicht auf Metall trifft.
- Metall- und Krampenverschlüsse nicht bügeln. Bei Spiralverschlüssen nur mit Tuch und niedriger Stufe.
- Beim Waschen den Verschluss schließen, dann verzieht sich das Band nicht und die Zähne haken sich nicht in anderer Wäsche fest.

Can I shorten it?
From the top yes: cut it, fold the tape into your seam allowance and set a new stop with a few hand stitches. From the bottom you cannot — that is where the box and pin sit.
Which presser foot should I use?
A zip foot. It runs beside the teeth rather than over them, so your seam comes close enough and keeps an even distance.
The slider sticks — what helps?
Usually fabric is caught between the teeth; ease it out rather than forcing it. If it still runs stiff, a little candle wax on the teeth helps.
Which needle do I need?
A universal needle in a suitable size; across several layers a denim needle. Never sew over the teeth themselves — a needle breaks or bends there.
