Sky blue is light and clear. A shade warmer than baby blue, and friendlier for it. On white and natural tones it yields light, airy designs.
The colours are dyed for high lightfastness. Whatever sits by a window or hangs outdoors keeps its tone longer than it would with ordinary embroidery thread. For cushions, bags and anything that catches sun, that is the real reason to reach for this thread.
The range holds forty colours, from bright white to black, plus seven neon shades. Anyone building a palette gets far with the muted tones and adds the signal colours only where they are genuinely needed.
What Madeira Frosted Matt Himmelblau is suitable for
- Machine embroidery on clothing and home textiles
- Fine lettering and small designs
- Quilting lines with a matt surface
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
Is the thread lightfast?
That is what it is built for. Madeira dyes Frosted Matt by its own process for high lightfastness. Embroidery on cushions, bags or garden textiles keeps its tone longer than with ordinary embroidery thread.
Do I need stabiliser?
Almost always. Stabiliser holds the fabric steady in the hoop so a design does not distort. Tear-away suits wovens, cut-away suits stretch fabric, water-soluble suits terry and lace.
How do I hoop the fabric properly?
Taut as a drum skin, but without stretching it. Pull at the fabric and you get waves around your design once it comes out. On stretch fabric, an iron-on stabiliser at the back helps as well.
How should I store part-used spools?
Upright, dry and out of direct light. The snap spool closes, so no thread end hangs out to tangle with the spool next to it.
