Clear red as ribbing is the fastest route towards a sporty look: against navy, black or anthracite the finish acts like a stripe on a team jacket. That very effect turns a plain raglan jumper into a garment carrying character. The fabric measures approximately 100 cm across, so several strips can be cut side by side. Cut the strip crosswise to the selvedge, where the stretch runs, then fold it lengthwise along the crease. Rule of thumb: neckbands about two thirds to three quarters of the neckline, sleeve or hem bands slightly shorter than the circumference.

How much ribbing do I need?

Sleeve and hem ribbing on a jumper usually takes only a short piece, while hoodies including hood facings or pockets need more. We cut from 0.2 metres upwards, so you can order exactly what your pattern calls for.
