Copper 713 is the lighter, more orange variant of that metal shade: warm, glowing, ideal whenever an autumn project can take colour. As ribbing it looks especially fresh against natural white and cream, very elegant beside dark brown or dark green. Weighing 240 gsm, this fine rib holds edges permanently in shape. Two copper shades within one range sound like plenty — they prove practical precisely when ribbing and outer fabric must match exactly. Laid side by side, the difference shows instantly.

Sew using a stretch or jersey needle in size 75 to 80, moving up to 90 across several layers at a hood or waistband. An overlocker or elastic stitch keeps the seam flexible, while a straight stitch snaps as the garment is pulled on.

How much ribbing do I need?

Sleeve and hem ribbing on a jumper usually takes only a short piece, while hoodies including hood facings or pockets need more. We cut from 0.2 metres upwards, so you can order exactly what your pattern calls for.
