Muddy beige is one of those colours nobody looks for deliberately while everyone needs it: a muted brown-grey getting along beside dusky pink, mustard, terracotta and natural white equally. As ribbing it stays entirely in the background, letting outer fabrics shine. This fine rib stretches widely, springing back reliably, so edges keep their shape. Within natural palettes muddy beige often becomes the connecting link. Anyone coordinating several garments without sewing everything in one colour finds the shared denominator here.
Available in more colours in the Heike series.
Cut the strip crosswise to the selvedge, where the stretch runs, then fold it lengthwise along the crease. Rule of thumb: neckbands about two thirds to three quarters of the neckline, sleeve or hem bands slightly shorter than the circumference.
The fabric measures approximately 100 cm across. Several ribbing strips fit side by side, which means even a short length covers sleeves, hem and neckline of one complete jumper without running short.
Fine rib describes the narrow, regular rib structure of the knit. It makes the fabric especially stretchy crosswise while creating that typical firm ribbing handle. Against coarse rib knits, fine rib looks neater, adding less bulk at necks or sleeves.
At 240 gsm the ribbing carries enough substance to hold edges permanently in shape, yet stays soft enough around necklines. It adds little bulk at sleeves, matching jersey and sweat fabrics nicely in weight.
