Blue is a cool tone that comes out especially clean on warm fabric. On denim it lies almost tone on tone. The spool carries 200 m of metallic embroidery thread at weight 40, and the colour code reads 301. The spool is sold singly.
Metallic thread belongs where things should shine: monograms, stars, outlines — not across large areas. Sparkling is Madeira's metallic embroidery thread: a polyamide core wrapped in metal foil. That is where its clear shine comes from. A test piece beforehand saves trouble in the middle of a design. Note the colour code with your project straight away.
What Madeira Metallic Sparkling Blau is suitable for
- monograms with a metallic shine
- outlines around matt embroidery designs
- festive and Christmas decorations
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
Which needle do I need?
A metallic needle. Its larger eye rubs less against the wrapping, which otherwise abrades. With an ordinary embroidery needle the thread breaks far more often, especially on dense designs.
How fast may I stitch?
Considerably slower than with polyester. Friction in the needle eye warms the thread, and metal foil takes that worse than a smooth core. About half your usual speed is a good starting point.
How do I set the tension?
Noticeably looser than for ordinary embroidery. Metallic thread barely stretches and reacts sensitively to pull. Set too tight, it breaks instead of settling into the stitch.
May I iron over the embroidery?
No, not directly. Metal foil takes no direct heat and turns dull. If ironing is needed, work from the reverse with a cloth between and at a low temperature.
