The tone Yellow brings warmth into a project. On grey, denim and natural shades it reads as an especially clear contrast. 200 m at weight 40: a polyamide core wrapped in metal foil. Colour code 303. It is best to let the spool unroll horizontally rather than pull off vertically.
If you work with it for the first time, plan a test piece: it behaves differently from polyester. Madeira builds it from two parts — a load-bearing core and the foil around it. That makes it more delicate than polyester and visually unmistakable.
What Madeira Metallic Sparkling Gelb is suitable for
- outlines around matt embroidery designs
- decorative stitches on a sewing machine
- stars, snowflakes and ornaments
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
Why does metallic thread break so easily?
Because the metal foil around its core is more delicate than a smooth polyester filament. Stitch slower, loosen the top tension and fit a metallic needle with a large eye — that usually solves it.
How fast may I stitch?
Considerably slower than with polyester. Friction in the needle eye warms the thread, and metal foil takes that worse than a smooth core. About half your usual speed is a good starting point.
How do I set the tension?
Noticeably looser than for ordinary embroidery. Metallic thread barely stretches and reacts sensitively to pull. Set too tight, it breaks instead of settling into the stitch.
Which bobbin thread suits it?
A fine bobbin thread, as with any machine embroidery. Metallic thread belongs on top only; in the bobbin it would upset stitch formation and abrade in the hook.
