The tone Rust carries warmth. On denim, grey and brown it makes a contrast that never feels harsh. 200 m at weight 40: a polyamide core wrapped in metal foil. Colour code 028. It is best to let the spool unroll horizontally rather than pull off vertically.
Set as an outline around a matt design, it changes the effect of the whole embroidery. Madeira builds it from two parts — a load-bearing core and the foil around it. That makes it more delicate than polyester and visually unmistakable.
What Madeira Metallic Sparkling Rost is suitable for
- monograms with a metallic shine
- outlines around matt embroidery designs
- labelling on bags
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
Can I wash the piece?
Yes, at a gentle temperature. The shine survives as long as it is not washed hot or put through a dryer. For occasion wear hand washing is the safe option.
Can I stitch whole areas with it?
Technically yes, visually rarely sensible. The shine works hardest as an accent. Across large areas it reads restless, and longer stitching time raises the risk of thread breaks.
How durable is the embroidery?
Under normal use good. Metallic thread is not meant for garments stressed daily — for festive pieces, decoration and accents its durability is entirely sufficient.
Can I sew with it on a sewing machine?
For decorative seams yes, slowly and with loosened tension. For load-bearing seams it is unsuitable: the core holds, but the wrapping abrades along the seam over time.
