Light Blue reads calm and matter-of-fact. As a seam the tone disappears on blue fabric and steps forward on light. The spool carries 50 m of thread with a metallic shine, colour code 143. The spool is sold singly.
This thread is meant for accents: topstitching, monograms, small embroidery — not for areas. Gütermann lists the effect thread in metal tones and strong colours with a shimmer — neither of which shows on an ordinary seam. This small spool covers several accents. Frequently asked questions
How fast may I stitch?
Considerably slower than with polyester. Friction in the needle eye warms the thread, and metal foil takes that worse than a smooth core. About half your usual speed is a good starting point.
How do I set the tension?
Noticeably looser than for ordinary embroidery. Metallic thread barely stretches and reacts sensitively to pull. Set too tight, it breaks instead of settling into the stitch.
How durable is the embroidery?
Under normal use good. Metallic thread is not meant for garments stressed daily — for festive pieces, decoration and accents its durability is entirely sufficient.
What is the colour code for?
Metallic tones differ in nuances that are hard to describe. The code on the spool is therefore the only reliable detail when you want to restock the same shine.
