Silver stands neutral between white and black, the tone for everything meant not to show. The spool carries 50 m of thread with a metallic shine, colour code 41. Ordinary sewing thread in a matching colour belongs in the bobbin.
For the bobbin take ordinary sewing thread in a matching colour, not the effect thread itself. With a metallic needle and loosened tension the thread runs calmly on a domestic machine too. The spool belongs dust-free and upright in your box. A test piece beforehand shows whether tension and speed suit.

Frequently asked questions
Why does metallic thread break so easily?
Because the metal foil around its core is more delicate than a smooth polyester filament. Stitch slower, loosen the top tension and fit a metallic needle with a large eye — that usually solves it.
Which bobbin thread suits it?
A fine bobbin thread, as with any machine embroidery. Metallic thread belongs on top only; in the bobbin it would upset stitch formation and abrade in the hook.
Can I stitch whole areas with it?
Technically yes, visually rarely sensible. The shine works hardest as an accent. Across large areas it reads restless, and longer stitching time raises the risk of thread breaks.
How durable is the embroidery?
Under normal use good. Metallic thread is not meant for garments stressed daily — for festive pieces, decoration and accents its durability is entirely sufficient.
