A metallic needle. Its larger eye rubs less against the wrapping, which otherwise abrades. With an ordinary embroidery needle the thread breaks far more often, especially on dense designs.
How do I set the tension?
Noticeably looser than for ordinary embroidery. Metallic thread barely stretches and reacts sensitively to pull. Set too tight, it breaks instead of settling into the stitch.
Can I stitch whole areas with it?
Technically yes, visually rarely sensible. The shine works hardest as an accent. Across large areas it reads restless, and longer stitching time raises the risk of thread breaks.
Is the spool sold singly?
Yes, every spool is sold on its own. Since metallic thread is usually needed for single accents only, one spool often lasts across many projects without running out.
