Sea blue is a mid blue with a green cast — the tone of water over sand. It sits between turquoise and blue. Tooth length comes to 75 cm. Lay it against your piece before cutting and you will see at once whether the opening sits right.
These teeth are 5 mm wide and made of metal. They are visible, audible and belong on jackets allowed to look workshop-ready. A small fabric tab over the upper end stops the slider scratching a chin. That costs two minutes and makes the finished jacket noticeably more comfortable.
What Teilbare Reißverschlüsse Meerblau is suitable for
- Zipped hoodies, because the fastener can run up into the hood.
- Softshell jackets, because the fastener carries real function there.
- Rain jackets, because a separating fastener frees the whole front.
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
Which length does a jacket need?
Measure the front edge on your finished pattern piece, hem to neckline, and deduct seam allowances. Err short: too long and it stands proud at the top, too short and your hem gapes.
Do I need a facing?
It makes the edge tidy and covers the tape. On stretch fabrics reinforce it with interfacing, or your front edge ripples along the tape.
How do I stop the slider scratching a chin?
A small fabric tab over the upper end, or a piece of facing reaching past the slider. Either costs little effort and makes a jacket far more comfortable.
How far should the topstitching sit?
About three to five millimetres beside the teeth. Too close and the slider brushes your seam; too far and the fabric throws a ripple over the tape.
