Lemon yellow is a cool, clear yellow with no orange in it. It is the brightest shade in the range, glowing strongest on a dark ground. It measures 75 cm. Too long, and you shorten it from the top, setting a new stop there.
Separate metal teeth of 5 mm — the version for anything meant to read strong. It is stiffer than a coil and follows curves less readily. Too long, and you shorten it from the top: cut, fold the tape into your seam allowance, set a new stop with hand stitches. From the bottom you cannot — that is where the box and pin sit.

Sewing tips
- Länge am fertigen Schnittteil messen, nicht am Schnittmuster — Nahtzugaben und Saum verändern die gebrauchte Länge.
- Reißverschlussfuß verwenden. Mit ihm kommt die Naht dicht an die Zähne, ohne dass der Fuß aufläuft.
- Vor dem Annähen beide Seiten gleich hoch ausrichten und heften. Verschiebt sich eine Hälfte, steht die Jacke am Saum auseinander.
- Bei dehnbaren Stoffen den Beleg mit Vlieseline verstärken, sonst wellt sich die Kante entlang des Bandes.
- Den Schieber vor der Quernaht öffnen und beiseiteschieben, damit die Nadel nicht auf Metall trifft.
- Metall- und Krampenverschlüsse nicht bügeln. Bei Spiralverschlüssen nur mit Tuch und niedriger Stufe.
- Beim Waschen den Verschluss schließen, dann verzieht sich das Band nicht und die Zähne haken sich nicht in anderer Wäsche fest.

Slider all the way down, guide the pin straight into the box and push it in to the stop. Only then pull up. Entered at an angle, the pin jams and the slider jumps off again.
How do I stop the slider scratching a chin?
A small fabric tab over the upper end, or a piece of facing reaching past the slider. Either costs little effort and makes a jacket far more comfortable.
Which needle do I need?
A universal needle in a suitable size; across several layers a denim needle. Never sew over the teeth themselves — a needle breaks or bends there.
How should I store fasteners?
Flat and closed, ideally sorted by length. Stored folded, the tape keeps that crease, and you see it later along the sewn-in edge.
