Description
Lemon yellow is a cool, clear yellow with no orange in it. It is the brightest shade in the range, glowing strongest on a dark ground. It measures 25 cm. Too long, and you shorten it from the top, setting a new stop there.
This coil is 3 mm wide — the finest version in the range. It is light, flexible and adds hardly any bulk on thin fabrics. Sold singly. Measure the opening on your finished pattern piece rather than on paper — seam allowances and hem change the length you need. Too long, and you shorten it from the top: cut, fold the tape in, set a new stop with hand stitches.
What Closed-End Zip 25 cm Lemon Yellow is suitable for
- Trousers and skirts, because only an opening should part there.
- Dresses fastening at the side, because that seam stays calm.
- Garment bags, because the opening matches the length exactly.
Sewing tips
- Die angegebene Länge ist die Zahnlänge, nicht die Bandlänge. Für den Schlitz im Schnittmuster zählt die Zahnlänge.
- Reißverschlussfuß verwenden und die Naht knappkantig neben den Zähnen führen.
- Zu lange Verschlüsse lassen sich kürzen: oben abschneiden, neuen Anschlag mit Handstichen setzen und das Band in die Nahtzugabe einschlagen.
- In Taschen den Verschluss vor dem Zusammennähen der Seitennähte einsetzen, solange die Teile noch flach liegen.
- Bei dünnen Stoffen ein Stück Vlieseline unterlegen, damit die Kante nicht ausreißt.
- Metallausführungen nicht bügeln; die Spitzenvariante nur von links und mit Tuch.
- Zum Waschen schließen. Offene Zähne verhaken sich in Maschenware und ziehen Fäden.

Frequently asked questions
Which presser foot do I need?
A zip foot. It runs beside the teeth rather than over them, so your seam comes close enough without the foot riding up and the stitching wandering.
How do I get the seam close to the teeth?
With a zip foot, a slow pace and a tacked edge. Press the allowance beforehand and it lies flat while you sew, so the seam keeps an even distance.
How do I care for the finished piece?
Close the fastener before every wash. The tape then will not distort and the teeth cannot catch in other laundry. Never press directly over the slider.
Centred or concealed?
Set centred, both lines of topstitching show evenly; concealed, only one remains visible. Trousers usually take concealed, bags and cushions the centred version.
