Description

A delicate, pale pink. For children's clothes, baby pieces and anything meant to look light, it is the obvious pick. Tooth length comes to 25 cm. Lay it against your piece before cutting and you will see at once whether the opening sits right.

This coil is 3 mm wide — the finest version in the range. It is light, flexible and adds hardly any bulk on thin fabrics. Close the fastener before every wash, so the tape will not distort and the teeth cannot catch in other laundry. Never press directly over the slider.

What Closed-End Zip 25 cm Pale Pink is suitable for

  • Trousers and skirts, because only an opening should part there.
  • Wash bags, because this fastener sews in flat.
  • Seat cushion covers, because the cover comes off for washing.

Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions

How long should a cushion opening be?

At least half the cushion width, ideally a little more. Otherwise the insert only goes in with a struggle and the corners stay unfilled.

Do I need two sliders?

Closed-end fasteners carry one, and that suffices — two sliders only make sense on long, separating fasteners, such as coats you want to open from the bottom.

How should I store fasteners?

Flat and closed, ideally sorted by length. Stored folded, the tape keeps that crease, and you see it later along the sewn-in edge.

How far should the topstitching sit?

About three to five millimetres beside the teeth. Too close and the slider brushes your seam; too far and the fabric throws a ripple over the tape.
