Description

Beige is the calmest natural shade: between sand and light brown, making no statement of its own. It subordinates itself to any fabric rather than standing out. Its length is 12 cm. That is tooth length; the tape above it disappears into your seam allowance.

3 mm of coil width — narrow enough for fine wovens, strong enough for the slider to grip securely. For cushion covers, make the opening at least half the cushion width — otherwise the insert only goes in with a struggle and the corners stay empty as you fill it.

What Closed-End Zip 12 cm Beige is suitable for

  • Wash bags, because this fastener sews in flat.
  • Dresses fastening at the side, because that seam stays calm.
  • Rucksacks, because a fixed stop takes strain.

Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions

Can I shorten it?

From the top yes. Cut it to the length you need, fold the tape into your seam allowance and set a new stop with a few hand stitches. From the bottom you cannot — that is where the fixed stop sits.

Does it suit trousers?

Yes — for trousers and skirts a closed-end zip is exactly right, since it should not open fully there. Just make sure the length matches the opening in your pattern.

How exactly must the colour match?

On visible fastenings as closely as possible; on concealed ones a roughly matching tone will do. If unsure, take the next darker shade — one too pale stands out more.

How should I store fasteners?

Flat and closed, ideally sorted by length. Stored folded, the tape keeps that crease, and you see it later along the sewn-in edge.
