A clear red with neither blue nor orange cast. On dark fabrics this fastener becomes a deliberate accent. At 80 cm of tooth length it fits wherever you need exactly that opening — measured on your finished pattern piece, not on paper.
A plastic coil of 5 mm. It runs quietly, stays flexible and copes with frequent opening on a jacket. Store it flat and closed, ideally sorted by length. Folded, the tape keeps that crease, and you see it later along the sewn-in edge.
What Teilbare Reißverschlüsse Rot is suitable for
- Sweat jackets, because the piece opens completely.
- Covers meant to come off entirely, because both halves separate.
- Rain jackets, because a separating fastener frees the whole front.
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
Which length does a jacket need?
Measure the front edge on your finished pattern piece, hem to neckline, and deduct seam allowances. Err short: too long and it stands proud at the top, too short and your hem gapes.
Which presser foot should I use?
A zip foot. It runs beside the teeth rather than over them, so your seam comes close enough and keeps an even distance.
What about crossing seams?
Open the fastener and push the slider out of the way before your needle arrives. Hit the slider or metal teeth and it breaks.
Metal or plastic — which is better?
Plastic is lighter, more flexible and quieter; metal reads stronger and takes more strain. Sweat jackets do fine with plastic; for coats and workwear, metal serves better.
