Description
A fresh, pale green — the tone of young leaves. On children's things it reads cheerful without being garish. 18 cm long — pick your length by the pattern piece rather than the paper pattern, since seam allowances and hem change the measurement.
A plastic coil of 3 mm. It weighs almost nothing and stays flexible enough not to intrude on blouses or dresses. On stretch fabrics, lay a strip of interfacing or a narrow stay tape into the seam allowance, or that edge stretches as you sew and ripples later. On firm wovens it is unnecessary.

Sewing tips
- Die angegebene Länge ist die Zahnlänge, nicht die Bandlänge. Für den Schlitz im Schnittmuster zählt die Zahnlänge.
- Reißverschlussfuß verwenden und die Naht knappkantig neben den Zähnen führen.
- Zu lange Verschlüsse lassen sich kürzen: oben abschneiden, neuen Anschlag mit Handstichen setzen und das Band in die Nahtzugabe einschlagen.
- In Taschen den Verschluss vor dem Zusammennähen der Seitennähte einsetzen, solange die Teile noch flach liegen.
- Bei dünnen Stoffen ein Stück Vlieseline unterlegen, damit die Kante nicht ausreißt.
- Metallausführungen nicht bügeln; die Spitzenvariante nur von links und mit Tuch.
- Zum Waschen schließen. Offene Zähne verhaken sich in Maschenware und ziehen Fäden.

Frequently asked questions
Which presser foot do I need?
A zip foot. It runs beside the teeth rather than over them, so your seam comes close enough without the foot riding up and the stitching wandering.
Centred or concealed?
Set centred, both lines of topstitching show evenly; concealed, only one remains visible. Trousers usually take concealed, bags and cushions the centred version.
Do I need two sliders?
Closed-end fasteners carry one, and that suffices — two sliders only make sense on long, separating fasteners, such as coats you want to open from the bottom.
How should I store fasteners?
Flat and closed, ideally sorted by length. Stored folded, the tape keeps that crease, and you see it later along the sewn-in edge.
