Description

Royal blue runs strong and clear — the blue you still read as blue from a distance. On plain fabrics it sets a clear accent. It measures 18 cm. Too long, and you shorten it from the top, setting a new stop there.

That continuous coil measures 3 mm. Unlike separate metal teeth it forms an even line and runs silently. Set centred, it shows two even lines of topstitching; set concealed, only one. Trousers usually take the concealed version, bags and cushions the centred one.

What Closed-End Zip 18 cm Royal Blue is suitable for

  • Dresses fastening at the side, because that seam stays calm.
  • Sewing folders and tool rolls, because this fastener holds the contents.
  • Garment bags, because the opening matches the length exactly.

Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions

Does it work on jersey?

Yes, if you stabilise the edge. A strip of interfacing or a narrow stay tape in the seam allowance stops that edge stretching as you sew and rippling later.

How exactly must the colour match?

On visible fastenings as closely as possible; on concealed ones a roughly matching tone will do. If unsure, take the next darker shade — one too pale stands out more.

How does it look tidy inside?

A facing or lining covers the tape. Without either, finish your seam allowances with overlock or zigzag beforehand, or they fray beside the tape.

How should I store fasteners?

Flat and closed, ideally sorted by length. Stored folded, the tape keeps that crease, and you see it later along the sewn-in edge.
