Separating Zip 85 cm Plum

Plum is a dark purple leaning red. On a pale ground it nearly reads black; only close up does the violet show. It measures 85 cm. Too long, and you shorten it from the top, setting a new stop there.

That continuous coil runs 5 mm. Against metal teeth it reads less conspicuous and follows curves more softly. Too long, and you shorten it from the top: cut, fold the tape into your seam allowance, set a new stop with hand stitches. From the bottom you cannot — that is where the box and pin sit.

What Separating Zip 85 cm Plum is suitable for

• Sweat jackets, because the piece opens completely.
• Children's jackets, because the piece goes on and off easily.
• Covers meant to come off entirely, because both halves separate.

Sewing tips

• Länge am fertigen Schnittteil messen, nicht am Schnittmuster — Nahtzugaben und Saum verändern die gebrauchte Länge.
• Reißverschlussfuß verwenden. Mit ihm kommt die Naht dicht an die Zähne, ohne dass der Fuß aufläuft.
• Vor dem Annähen beide Seiten gleich hoch ausrichten und heften. Verschiebt sich eine Hälfte, steht die Jacke am Saum auseinander.
• Bei dehnbaren Stoffen den Beleg mit Vlieseline verstärken, sonst wellt sich die Kante entlang des Bandes.
• Den Schieber vor der Quernaht öffnen und beiseiteschieben, damit die Nadel nicht auf Metall trifft.
• Metall- und Krampenverschlüsse nicht bügeln. Bei Spiralverschlüssen nur mit Tuch und niedriger Stufe.
• Beim Waschen den Verschluss schließen, dann verzieht sich das Band nicht und die Zähne haken sich nicht in anderer Wäsche fest.
