Sulky supplies Felty in over twenty colours, from muted naturals to neon. 3 m on the roll, 25 cm wide. For small hoops you cut it down accordingly. The stated weight per square metre is 210 g/m².
For embroidery a stabiliser belongs underneath, otherwise stitch density draws the felt together. Polyester makes the felt washable and colourfast — exactly what wool craft felt cannot deliver. It ships singly, so you can restock exactly what you need. If you embroider regularly, keeping one of the common sizes in stock pays off.
What Sulky Felty Stickfilz Grau is suitable for
- machine embroidery on felt
- craft work with children
- coasters and small home textiles
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
What do I cut it with?
Sharp scissors or a rotary cutter. Blunt blades drag fibres out of the surface, and the edge then looks ragged even though felt cannot actually fray.
How do I make a patch from it?
Stitch the design, cut it out, back it with fusible stabiliser and press it on. An edge stitch makes it durable — especially where a piece rubs while worn.
How thick is the felt?
Dense enough to hold its shape and thin enough for a sewing machine to handle without effort. For appliqué on clothing that is exactly the right range.
Does it suit children?
Very well. Nothing frays, nothing needs finishing, and scissors are tool enough. For first sewing projects it is the simplest material choice. The result also looks tidy at the first attempt.
