Polyester felt with the advantage craft felt lacks: Felty is washable and keeps both shape and colour. One roll of 3 m, 25 cm wide — you cut it to hoop size. The stated weight per square metre is 210 g/m².
The cut edge does not fray — so it needs no finishing. Felt has an advantage no woven fabric has: it knows no grain. You cut in any direction and the edge still stays closed. Store it dry, flat and without creases. It ships singly, so you can restock exactly what you need.

Sewing tips
- Der Filz franst nicht, die Kante braucht also keine Versäuberung.
- Zum Besticken ein Stickvlies unterlegen, sonst zieht die Stichdichte den Filz zusammen.
- Waschbar bei 30 °C — Applikationen halten damit auch an Kleidung, die regelmäßig gewaschen wird.
- Mit einer scharfen Schere oder dem Rollschneider zuschneiden; stumpfe Klingen ziehen Fasern.
- Für Aufnäher den Filz mit Aufbügelvlies hinterlegen, dann bleibt die Form auch nach dem Aufbügeln erhalten.

Frequently asked questions
Can I embroider on it?
Yes, by machine as much as by hand. A stabiliser belongs under the felt, otherwise stitch density draws the surface together and the design ripples.
May I iron the felt?
At moderate heat and with a pressing cloth between. Polyester takes no high temperature; direct heat flattens the surface and makes it shiny. A quick test on an offcut shows how much heat the felt takes.
How thick is the felt?
Dense enough to hold its shape and thin enough for a sewing machine to handle without effort. For appliqué on clothing that is exactly the right range.
What do I do with offcuts?
Keep them. Felt offcuts store indefinitely, do not fray and are plenty for letters, small shapes and badges — work that only needs strips anyway. A shoebox of felt offcuts is worth its weight in any workroom.
