Hay green is a muted yellow-green recalling dried grass. It is the least intrusive green in the range. 20 cm long — pick your length by the pattern piece rather than the paper pattern, since seam allowances and hem change the measurement.
This coil is 3 mm wide — the finest version in the range. It is light, flexible and adds hardly any bulk on thin fabrics. Never sew across the teeth themselves: on metal a needle breaks, on plastic it bends. Open the fastener before a crossing seam and push the slider aside.

Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
What does closed-end mean?
This fastener is closed at the bottom: the slider runs onto a fixed stop and both halves stay joined. Your piece opens only along the teeth, never completely.
Can I shorten it?
From the top yes. Cut it to the length you need, fold the tape into your seam allowance and set a new stop with a few hand stitches. From the bottom you cannot — that is where the fixed stop sits.
How do I get the seam close to the teeth?
With a zip foot, a slow pace and a tacked edge. Press the allowance beforehand and it lies flat while you sew, so the seam keeps an even distance.
Do I need two sliders?
Closed-end fasteners carry one, and that suffices — two sliders only make sense on long, separating fasteners, such as coats you want to open from the bottom.
