Light grey is so pale that beside white it makes hardly any contrast. On mottled fabrics this fastener nearly disappears. Its length is 20 cm. That is tooth length; the tape above it disappears into your seam allowance.
3 mm of coil width — narrow enough for fine wovens, strong enough for the slider to grip securely. Insert it with a zip foot, so your seam runs close beside the teeth. On bags it pays to sew the fastener in while the pieces still lie flat — afterwards your machine reaches that seam less easily.

Sewing tips

- Zum Waschen schließen. Offene Zähne verhaken sich in Maschenware und ziehen Fäden.

Which presser foot do I need?
A zip foot. It runs beside the teeth rather than over them, so your seam comes close enough without the foot riding up and the stitching wandering.
How do I care for the finished piece?
Close the fastener before every wash. The tape then will not distort and the teeth cannot catch in other laundry. Never press directly over the slider.
Do I need two sliders?
Closed-end fasteners carry one, and that suffices — two sliders only make sense on long, separating fasteners, such as coats you want to open from the bottom.
How far should the topstitching sit?
About three to five millimetres beside the teeth. Too close and the slider brushes your seam; too far and the fabric throws a ripple over the tape.
