Description

Felty turns into appliqué, labels and patches — cut, stitch, sew on, done. Per pack 12 sheets, each 21 cm wide and 29,5 cm long. The stated weight per square metre is 210 g/m².

It also suits craft work with children, since nothing frays and nothing needs finishing. For appliqué on clothing the rule is: press or baste first, then stitch around. The seam holds what the adhesive only prepares. Before the first design on a new fabric, a test piece with the same material pays off. Store it dry, flat and without creases.

Sewing tips

  • Der Filz franst nicht, die Kante braucht also keine Versäuberung.
  • Zum Besticken ein Stickvlies unterlegen, sonst zieht die Stichdichte den Filz zusammen.
  • Waschbar bei 30 °C — Applikationen halten damit auch an Kleidung, die regelmäßig gewaschen wird.
  • Mit einer scharfen Schere oder dem Rollschneider zuschneiden; stumpfe Klingen ziehen Fasern.
  • Für Aufnäher den Filz mit Aufbügelvlies hinterlegen, dann bleibt die Form auch nach dem Aufbügeln erhalten.

Frequently asked questions

May I iron the felt?

At moderate heat and with a pressing cloth between. Polyester takes no high temperature; direct heat flattens the surface and makes it shiny. A quick test on an offcut shows how much heat the felt takes.

How thick is the felt?

Dense enough to hold its shape and thin enough for a sewing machine to handle without effort. For appliqué on clothing that is exactly the right range.

How many colours are there?

Over twenty, from muted naturals to neon. Anyone making appliqué in series finds nearly every tone — and the colour number makes it reorderable. The number appears on the band and in the article name.

Does it suit children?

Very well. Nothing frays, nothing needs finishing, and scissors are tool enough. For first sewing projects it is the simplest material choice. The result also looks tidy at the first attempt.
