Mustard as a melange runs warmer and softer than plain solid mustard: blended fibres remove its hardness, making it look almost hand-knitted. As ribbing against brown, dark green or natural white it forms the classic autumn combination. Weighing 240 gsm, this fine rib keeps its shape across many washes. Mottled yellows appear less often than mottled greys — which is exactly why mustard edges stand out pleasantly, without a whole garment needing to be sewn in that strong colour.

Frequently asked questions
Which needle and stitch work best?
Sew using a stretch or jersey needle in size 75 to 80, moving up to 90 across several layers at a hood or waistband. An overlocker or elastic stitch keeps the seam flexible, while a straight stitch snaps as the garment is pulled on.
How does the melange look appear?
The melange comes of finely blended fibres, giving ribbing a lively, subtly speckled depth. It suits mottled sweat fabrics particularly well, letting edges appear less flat than plain solid ribbing would.
What is fine rib ribbing used for?
Fine rib ribbing gives sleeves, hems and necklines a tidy finish. The elastic rib springs back after stretching, so edges on hoodies, sweat jackets or joggers sit firmly without pinching, keeping their shape through many washes.
How elastic is this ribbing containing 5 % elastane?
A share of 5 % elastane gives the fine rib structure extra recovery: the ribbing stretches widely, then springs back into shape. Sleeve or neck edges therefore never bag out, even on children's clothing that gets pulled on every day.
