Terracotta gains noticeably as a melange: blended fibres let the rust orange shift, recalling handmade ceramics. As ribbing the shade brings warmth into grey days without turning loud. At 240 gsm this fine rib holds sleeve and neck edges permanently in shape. Mottled terracotta pairs happily alongside natural white, muddy beige, ochre and dark green. Next to denim blue it works surprisingly well too — acting as a warm counterpoint that makes cool blue friendlier.

Frequently asked questions
Which needle and stitch work best?
Sew using a stretch or jersey needle in size 75 to 80, moving up to 90 across several layers at a hood or waistband. An overlocker or elastic stitch keeps the seam flexible, while a straight stitch snaps as the garment is pulled on.
How does the melange look appear?
The melange comes of finely blended fibres, giving ribbing a lively, subtly speckled depth. It suits mottled sweat fabrics particularly well, letting edges appear less flat than plain solid ribbing would.
How much ribbing do I need?
Sleeve and hem ribbing on a jumper usually takes only a short piece, while hoodies including hood facings or pockets need more. We cut from 0.2 metres upwards, so you can order exactly what your pattern calls for.
Which fabrics match this colour exactly?
Heike is colour-matched to Vanessa, Maike and Eike by Swafing: identical colour code, identical shade. You can combine jersey, French terry or brushed sweat alongside matching ribbing, avoiding any colour deviation at the edges.
