Ice blue is a very pale, cool blue with a grey cast. It reads fresh without being as childish as baby blue. At 18 cm this is one of the short lengths — meant for cushion covers, small bags and necklines on children's things, where a long opening would only get in the way.
Invisible means: no visible placket, no topstitching beside the teeth, just a closed seam line with a slider at its end. A fine 3 mm coil on a tape in 100 % polyester makes that possible. Roll the coil flat with an iron before sewing, then your seam comes close enough to the teeth and the fastener truly disappears. Sew both sides from top to bottom, or one half travels against the other.

Sewing tips
- Ein spezieller Nähfuß für nahtverdeckte Reißverschlüsse ist praktisch Pflicht — er rollt die Spirale auf und führt die Naht direkt darunter.
- Der Verschluss wird eingenäht, BEVOR die Naht darunter geschlossen wird. Das ist umgekehrt zum normalen Reißverschluss.
- Vor dem Nähen die Spirale mit dem Bügeleisen auf niedriger Stufe flach ausrollen, dann kommt die Naht nah genug an die Zähne.
- Beide Seiten von oben nach unten nähen, nicht gegenläufig — sonst verzieht sich die eine Seite gegen die andere.
- Am unteren Ende so weit nähen, wie der Fuß kommt, dann den Rest der Naht mit normalem Fuß schließen und die letzten Zentimeter von Hand verriegeln.
- Bei dehnbaren Stoffen ein schmales Formband oder Vlieseline in die Nahtzugabe legen, damit die Kante gerade bleibt.
- Zum Waschen schließen und nicht direkt über den Schieber bügeln.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a special presser foot?
Practically yes. An invisible zip foot rolls the coil open as you sew and guides your seam right beneath it. Without one, your seam stays too far away and the teeth show.
The slider is sticking — what helps?
Usually fabric or a thread is caught between the teeth. Ease it out rather than pulling hard. If it still runs stiff afterwards, a little candle wax on the coil helps.
Is this manageable for beginners?
With the right foot yes; it looks harder than it is. Sew a practice run on two scraps and you will see at once how close the seam comes to the teeth, then work more calmly.
What do I do with the upper tape end?
It disappears into the seam allowance of your facing or waistband. Fold it outwards there, so it cannot jam under the slider and your fastener runs right to the top.
