Description

This thread shows Oxford Blue. Against denim in any wash it is the tone that draws the least attention. The spool holds 400 m of embroidery thread at weight 40, and the colour code reads 1628. The thread is wound smoothly and feeds without jerking.

On dark fabrics the sheen comes fully into its own — a design then lifts away in the light as well as in colour. Chlorine-proof, boil-proof, lightfast: three qualities an embroidery thread needs on everyday textiles. Before your first design a test piece on the same fabric with the same stabiliser pays off.

What Madeira Polyneon Embroidery Thread 400 m Oxford Blue is suitable for

  • machine embroidery on cotton, sweat and terry
  • appliqué on children's clothes
  • designs on dark fabrics where the shimmer shows

Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions

What is the colour code for?

It is the identity of this colour. With it you reorder the same tone years later, while comparing on a screen or from memory almost always misses.

Can I sew with it?

For decorative seams yes, for load-bearing seams rather not. Embroidery thread is built for sheen and suppleness, not for the tensile strength a structural seam needs over years.

How do I plan several colours?

Fix the sequence beforehand and lay the spools out in that order. It saves time at each change and prevents similar tones being swapped by mistake.

How do I hoop the fabric properly?

Taut like a drum skin, but without stretching. Pull at the cloth and you get ripples once it comes out. On stretch material a fusible stabiliser on the reverse helps as well.
