Description
Bright Red is a tone with insistence. On bags and jackets it turns topstitching into a design element. With 400 m on the spool and weight 40 this thread fits any embroidery machine. The colour code is 1837. This tone is lightfast, which makes the difference on pieces by a window.
For towels, bathrobes and bed linen boil resistance decides: a design keeps its colour even when washed hot. Madeira makes Polyneon to a constant quality. Buy a spool again and you get the tone you got the first time.
What Madeira Polyneon Embroidery Thread 400 m Bright Red is suitable for
- area fill stitches where the sheen pays off
- quilting stitches as a design element
- designs on dark fabrics where the shimmer shows
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
Which needle suits it?
An embroidery needle with a larger eye and a slight ball point. It spares the thread and leaves your weave undamaged. A change after each larger project pays off, since blunt points drag.
Do I need stabiliser?
Almost always. Stabiliser holds your fabric steady in the hoop so a design does not distort. Tear-away suits wovens, cut-away suits stretch, water-soluble suits terry.
Why does my design ripple?
Usually stitch density is too high or stabiliser is missing. Reduce density in your software, add suitable stabiliser and hoop the fabric taut but not stretched.
How do I plan several colours?
Fix the sequence beforehand and lay the spools out in that order. It saves time at each change and prevents similar tones being swapped by mistake.
