A deep Black: the thread stays full and does not go grey after many washes. The skein's 6 strands add up to 8 m of embroidery thread — enough for a medium design. A blunt embroidery needle finds the holes rather than the threads on counted fabric.
On counted fabrics like Aida you usually work with two or three strands; the fabric count decides, not taste. Cotton behaves differently from glossy polyester: calmer, warmer and closer to what old hand embroidery looks like. Embroidery lies flatter when the thread is not pulled too tight.
What Anchor Sticktwist Schwarz is suitable for
- cross stitch on Aida and counted fabric
- satin stitch and stem stitch designs
- tassels and charms
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
How do I take thread out of the skein?
Do not pull the skein apart; draw the end out gently. A skein is wound so the thread runs free from one side and tangles from the other.
Can I stitch any cross stitch chart with it?
Yes, as long as the chart gives Anchor numbers or a conversion. The tones have been stable for a long time, so older charts still match the current range.
Do I need an embroidery hoop?
For larger designs yes. A hoop keeps fabric evenly tensioned so stitches come out the same size. For a few centimetres of stitching the effort does not pay.
Is the skein sold singly?
Yes, every skein on its own. That lets you buy exactly the tones a chart asks for instead of an assortment full of colours you never need.
