Beyond embroidery, stranded cotton serves for tassels and charms because it drapes softly. Cotton behaves differently from glossy polyester: calmer, warmer and closer to what old hand embroidery looks like. Embroidery lies flatter when the thread is not pulled too tight.

How many strands do I stitch with?
That depends on your fabric. On coarse counted cloth people take three, on fine two, for solid areas all of them. A test stitch at the edge answers faster than any rule.
Should I knot the thread?
Better not. Knots press through to the front and work loose over time. The usual method weaves the start under your first stitches and finishes the end the same way.
How far does one skein go?
For a small to medium design usually well. If you plan a large area in one tone, two skeins are safer, since later batches can differ minimally.
Can I stitch any cross stitch chart with it?
Yes, as long as the chart gives Anchor numbers or a conversion. The tones have been stable for a long time, so older charts still match the current range.
