Description
The tone Iris is unusual enough to be noticed and calm enough never to feel intrusive. 8 m of cotton per skein, 6 strands side by side: you decide while stitching how many go into your needle. A blunt embroidery needle finds the holes rather than the threads on counted fabric.
The skein also suits stitching names onto children's clothes — a small amount goes a long way. Anchor supplies stranded cotton in skeins. The cotton is mercerised, which gives it a light shimmer without losing its matt character.

Sewing tips
- Den Strang nicht auseinanderziehen, sondern das Fadenende vorsichtig herausziehen.
- Zum Teilen die gewünschte Anzahl Fäden einzeln herausziehen und wieder zusammenlegen.
- Fadenlänge etwa 40 bis 50 Zentimeter — längere Fäden verdrehen sich und fransen.
- Eine Sticknadel mit stumpfer Spitze nimmt bei Zählstoffen die Löcher statt der Fäden.
- Vor dem Waschen des fertigen Stücks eine Farbprobe machen, besonders bei kräftigen Rottönen.

Frequently asked questions
May I wash the embroidery?
Yes, this cotton is colourfast. With strong reds and blues a test on a scrap still pays off before the finished piece goes into a machine for the first time.
How do I iron an embroidered piece?
Lay it face down on a soft cloth and iron from the reverse at moderate heat. The embroidery then keeps its relief rather than being flattened, which matters most with satin stitch.
Can I machine embroider with it?
No. Stranded cotton is too thick and too soft for an embroidery machine, and its strands would separate in the needle eye. Machines take fine polyester thread; stranded cotton stays reserved for hand work.
How far does one skein go?
For a small to medium design usually well. If you plan a large area in one tone, two skeins are safer, since later batches can differ minimally.
